Following the lead of several other states, Oregon has been experimenting successfully with variable speed limit signs for awhile now. The state’s first project to test the idea was set up atStaley’s Junction – where Highway 26 meets Highway 47.
KATU news reported on the project near the first of the year, when roadway sensors were being installed. And their report explains how this new approach to controlling speeds during high traffic periods will be used in Portland.
DKS worked with ODOT to determine the best locations for the variable speed limit signs to be used. You can read to full report from KATU on their website.
