Quick Facts
Metro Transit’s RapidRide bus service provides frequent trips throughout the day along six corridors within King County
Results
The vehicle-to-roadside 4.9GHz communication network was one of the first deployments of an Intelli-Drive communication network in the US
Reduces transit travel times and keeps people moving quickly in these heavily used transit corridors
Our Work
Provided ITS design for the A, B, C, and F-Lines and station electrical design for the B, C, D, E, and F-Line corridors
ITS design included over 30 miles of fiber optic communications and RapidRide communications hardware at over 100 traffic signals
Designed a transit signal priority and passenger information system that communicates on a 4.9GHz wireless Ethernet platform
Coordinated with the cities of Federal Way, Des Moines, Kent, SeaTac, Tukwila, Burien, Renton, Shoreline and Seattle on communication installation and electrical design
Completed the implementation of new coordinated signal timing and transit signal priority time for the A and B-Lines, which required hands-on integration work with the Econolite ASC2 and ASC3 software and the Siemens SEPAC and NextPhase software
