SDOT Next Generation ITS Signal Retiming

DKS is working with the City of Seattle to develop enhanced signal timing models that respond to real-time traffic volume and travel time data and automatically change signal timing patterns for Seattle’s Center City area. This project will improve travel times, freeway access, and transit speed and reliability. This project includes installation of dynamic lane management signs at selected locations to improve traffic by changing permitted lane usage at key locations depending on traffic volumes. The signal timing plans will address incidents on limited access corridors, events in the Center City, construction impacts, and congestion management.
