Tacoma LRT Limited NTP
DKS prepared temporary traffic control plans for the construction of a new light rail line in downtown Tacoma. Project involved partial closures of one-way and two-way streets, short block lengths, and a mixture of downtown streets and major arterial roads. Plans included time of operation, signalized and unsignalized intersection treatments, construction at the side of the road and in a central median, maintenance of safe pedestrian access to businesses, and temporary parking restrictions. Some blocks also included detours of one direction of traffic to other streets. Signs, barriers and markings were required along the route and on cross streets.

Mesa, AZ - Adaptive Traffic Signal Systems
DKS Associates evaluated all available adaptive traffic signal systems and guided the City of Mesa through a short-listing and selection process to select one system (SCATS) and an appropriate trial location for demonstration and evaluation. Environmental documentation was prepared and approved, then PS&E were prepared. After installation, detailed before and after surveys will evaluate the effectiveness of the system.

City of Stockton - Traffic Management System
DKS designed and implemented an integrated traffic management system for the City of Stockton. The overall project involved the development of a Master Plan to integrate the traffic management systems between several agencies including Caltrans and the County of San Joaquin. The plan included an analysis and comparison of alternatives for traffic signal systems and ITS elements, a data communications network to support these systems, and the essential elements for system integration. The implemented system architecture includes a fully deployed Traffic Operations Center, an operators console with computer and video monitors, a central computer system with distributed control of local intersections, closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, video detection systems, system detection, coordination of traffic signals across jurisdictional boundaries, traffic responsive operation, and the ability for each of three involved jurisdictions to access other jurisdictions' systems on a read-only basis. The communications network involves a comprehensive fiber optic network with trunklines and fiber branches to outlying areas including state-controlled ramp signals and CCTV cameras. A high speed local area network forms the basis for communications between other agencies workstations with the central server and CCTV camera control. A detailed funding plan was also prepared as part of the Master Plan. DKS is currently working with the City on expanding the system to include other advanced technology elements including the used of the Advanced Transportation Controller (ATC), NTCIP, additional CCTV cameras, CCTV cameras for monitoring and detection, and video and data multiplexers for system expansion. Stockton FETSIM. Funded by a grant from Caltrans, DKS conducted a Fuel Efficient Traffic Signal Management project to assist in reducing fuel consumption through the synchronization of the City's downtown traffic signals. DKS developed three timing plans for 74 signals. Delays were reduced by as much as 25 percent over pre-FETSIM A.M. and P.M. timings. As a result of the project, motorists saved over $300,000 in gasoline costs.

King County Speed and Reliability - TSP Systems
DKS is responsible for managing various work orders related to the design, analysis and implementation of transit signal priority on local arterials in King County. This work includes the design and analysis of transit priority traffic signal control strategies, signal coordination, speed and delay studies, traffic modeling, testing of traffic signal controllers and field equipment and assisting local agencies with the implementation of transit priority traffic control equipment. DKS worked with Econolite to test the latest transit signal priority firmware developed for King County. DKS performed the bench testing of the controller and recommended modifications to improve performance of TSP operations. All the critical recommendations have since been implemented and DKS is in the process of deploying new TSP timings for SR-99 in Shoreline. DKS also developed Synchro models for King County Metro and the City of Seattle to more accurately model transit delay, and developed an executive briefing on current transit priority practices in major cities around the world.
